Long Needed Update

So I took a break when Ulduar came out. I was just too angry with the fail and I sounded really pissed off all the time and I didn't enjoy raiding. I would take my laptop and watch TV with my housemates while raiding. We got Sarth-3D down on the 3rd pull with a full 25. It was a little... disheartening. So yeah, I quit.

Once class ended and summer started, I was quite bored so I resubbed. And my guild lost its DK tank. So I tanked. We got Algalon unlocked on 10man and some got their drakes (I hate Yogg so I sat out a lot on that fight). We also got a few hardmodes down on 25man, but our 25man team was decidedly subpar and it was frustrating to log on and watch people stand in shit or suck at DPS.

Then I had to move and my boyfriend moved to South Korea. The GM left for a 10man only guild. The boyfriend quit and joined a top 100 guild. The co-GM followed the GM. My two best guildie-friends then quit/transferred as well. All within the two weeks I was without internet from the move. So I quit again. (This was about when Anub unlocked, so ironically I have never killed him and gladly I have never done ToGC.)

3.3 hit right about exam time. I thought "hey great, the LFG system looks awesome". So I resubbed and played around with my alts. Got my paladin in 3t9 ret/3t9 prot, druid in 4t9 boomer/2t9 resto, shaman got the 75 emblem hat, priest got 2t9 shadow and the hat... basically I went a little crazy and ended up burning myself out something fierce. I mean, I have no friends on my server, no one to talk to, and yet I was playing ridiculous amounts of time a day. Sure, I'd share stories with the boyfriend when he was on, but the 14 hour time difference sure made me feel like a loser the majority of the time. (However, I did not get angry, which is +awesome.)

So I decided I would try to accomplish one of my major pre-Cataclysm goals: level an Alliance toon up to 60.

Now, I'm a die hard Horde girl. Not that I hate the Alliance (though they're ugly), but I've never gotten an Alliance toon past... 22, I think (and that was a draenei, non-draenei are lucky to make it to 12). I try! I make numerous little alts of all the possible classes and even tried to level up via LFG on a TANK of all things but I still.... found it boring. I mean, once you've leveled all the classes to 50, it gets a little repetitive.

But then my boyfriend, my wonderfully addicted and supportive boyfriend, pointed out that if I got the basic WoW and RAFed some alts, it'd only amount to a little more than a month's subscription (for a month, the link lasts 3).

Yeah.

Guess what I've been doing.

So far, it's fun. I'm using a key broadcaster to send my keystrokes to both copies of WoW I have open. I'm also using a couple addons I HATE because they're just so useful when dualboxing (quest announcer). It took me a while to realize that caster+caster is waaaaay superior to melee+caster so I'm still getting acquainted with the whole process. My desire for varied groups while leveling is far from beneficial, I think I'll need to swap around my pairs (particularly the warlock/hunter ones) to be more homogenous.

We'll see how long this lasts.

I feel pretty bad for having shelved my main server toons for now. I'm bored with them.

. The druid is as geared up as he's going to get at my current level of progression barring T4 gloves and T4 leggings.
. The priest is really boring and just brought out when I feel like being a mana battery, which is never as she's unguilded for some peace and quiet, therefore never dragged along.
. The hunter is sporadically brought out for another PvP push for more gear, even though it's cheating and I do my best to only fix what I know are problem slots throughout Karazhan (ie. legs).
. The paladin is level 64, beginning Terrokar. My Outlands burnout drags her down, though. I got her Herbalism up to 300 (now 301) though, which was satisfying. I look forward to the numbercrunching of getting together her tanking set (much more interesting than the druid's "well I have way over the defense cap due to my resilience, now to uh... stack agility, I guess?").
. The warlock is stagnated in the low 50s, as usual. She's stagnated since level 45, so it's not really surprising. Her next destination is Un'goro. I don't want to get another 70 for a while, though, so she's going to be lounging in an inn for a while.
. The mage is currently in the lead out of the rest, since I'm trying to get her to the 30 bracket so I can PvP with my friends' hunter and paladin.
. The warrior is lagging below 25, due to me not knowing what I am doing. At least the mage is simple 'hit 2 in fast sequence until mob hits your face, frost nova, run away, then hit 2 until mob is dead'. Warrior I still haven't gotten the hang of.
. The shaman is waiting for another session with my druid partner, wherein I stick to heals and interrupts and he is a cuddly bear mauling them. I like shaman. I really wish I had an extra shaman to level on my own, but I have some strange block with them despite loving the concept.
. The rogue is still the bank alt.

I did, however, scurry around with my little draenei hunter and get her to 12. The boar's been following extremely well, due to the new patch. I'm tempted to make the extremely long and painful ghost run all the way to friggin Eversong Woods for the red lynx as well, but I'm short the gold for the third stable slot. I should run around with the night elf hunter (who did the run for the lynx, but who runs like a girl) and mine stuff and AH it until I get enough funds.

Yes, my solution to burnout is to roll the opposite faction on a different server. :)

My brother got his BE mage to 70 today and flew around on his new mount making fighter plane sounds. I keep badgering him to get more hit (he's currently at 18 hit). Should be neat to see if he'll get his own account now.

I got my warlock to 50 yesterday and kept trying to hit Hunter's Mark (hotkeyed to 6) and therefore wasted a lost of time half-casting Immolate. Affliction is tolerable now with the new leveling speed. And UA is nice, though I think the real change came from finally putting points in that +% damage to shadow spells and life healed by shadow spells.

It was also really nice to fight green-level mobs so I could just throw all my DoTs up (2-6 on my keybindings) and then go get something else while my voidwalker held aggro until about 5%.

In fact, I plan on doing Hinterlands next time I play her. :) Yay for non-elite Jintha'alor (I think, I only did this once back when Mes was little) and being way too big for the zone.

Now I need to steal one of my boy's characters and run my warrior and mage through the final Ghostlands quests so I can get them moving through the 20s.

And kick my brother off the server so I can try to level a rogue.
I got bored, so I made a hunter alt on another server. She's actually on my Alternate Server of Alliance. They're all below level 12. :) And she's my second hunter on there.

Anyway, she's a draenei named Eleck. And I got her to level 10, then ran all the way to Elwynn Forest to tame Princess, because that's my favourite pig skin. So now I'm happy. :)

Aka: Blizz please give us hunters more stable slots!

Then I went to Gruul's, of the PuG variety. My guildies dropped out or didn't show for our four slots, so I was the only one who went. I was nervous, as I'm still kind of a noob when it comes to dps. (Heal? Sure. Tank? Awesome! DPS? Uhhh ok.)

And I was #2 according to my WWS Report. Which is awesome. We'd buffed the #1 (fire mage) via boomkin, so I really didn't stand a chance. I did have >2.3K attack power and 41.41% crit chance, without totems. With totems I think the crit got up to 45.37%.

And that's with no tier gear and only two Karazhan drops for my kitty set. :D Yay pvp gear!

Oh and I got to (emergency) hateful tank. In cat gear. I had 14K health, he was hitting me for 13K. Our RL shouted out "woah mes!" and people frantically healed me back up. Too bad the OT (turned MT) went down soon after, so Gruul turned and crushed me for 9K, then hit for 5K. And then I died. Yay for wipes!

The closest we got him was 4%. We had major vent lag, though, which sucked. And I tried to be optimistic and say "don't worry we'll get him next time" and then had someone say "yeah but we have cooldowns now" and went over every. single. cooldown. It was kind of a dampener for me.

And I really really wanted a certain friend there.

Not that bad.

Kitty hit is now about 132. :D :D

Oh being feral again feels awesome.

I respecced my druid back to feral last night for Gruul's Lair. I was told I'd only be dps, but I ended up tanking Kiggler. My tanking gear is not very good. I'm barely in blues, still crittable, and only at 13.5K health unbuffed.

Head: Stylin' Purple Hat (upgrading to S3 helm on Tuesday)
Neck: Strength of the Untamed (should look up getting a Necklace of the Deep)
Shoulder: S2 Shoulders (passed on T4 last night)
Back: Thoriumweave Cloak (next upgrade is from Illhoof)
Chest: Heavy Clefthoof Vest (will upgrade to S3 chest after upgrading helm, or make Shadowprowler's)
Wrist: Umberhowl's Collar (Kargath in Heroic SH has better)
Hands: Verdant Gloves (should really switch to wearing my Dextrous Manipulation for that, but they are gemmed for DPS not tanking... so that means I should save myself a second pair if I see them drop)
Belt: Manimal's Cinch (this really needs to upgrade, either the PvP belt or the belt from Heroic Ramps)
Legs: Heavy Clefthoof Leggings (best I can get pre-tier)
Feet: Heavy Clefthoof Boots (will switch to my PvP boots when I next log in)
Rings: Shermanar Great-Ring and Delicate Eternium Ring (I am 1K from exalted with VE, at which point I will switch to the Violet Signet of the Great Protector)
Trinkets: Badge of Tenacity and Romulo's Poison Vial (I am short on hit, hence the second trinket, but plan to replace it with the Pocket Watch should I ever get the damn thing, or I should run Heroic Underbog for the Argussian Compass off of the Black Stalker)
Weapon: Earthwarden (next step is SSC/TK drops)

So I just need to get my S3 helm, slap that +def +dodge enchant on it, then push to make my Shadowprowler's Chestguard (without ninjaing the Soul Essence from the guild bank) and then turn my Heroic Badge focus to getting new bracers, rings and trinkets.

It's really hard to keep three sets of gear up to par, especially when avoiding rolling on Tier gear (which would take care of two sets with one item) in order to allow our tanks to gear up.

I gquit on my paladin and my priest the other day, after my Kara blowup.

Then yesterday my priest got to ride on some coattails through Karazhan (at 11% of the damage done, fail) where we downed all but Prince and Nightbane in three hours. It was awesome. The group was quiet, we pulled continuously, had no untimely AFKs. I loved it.

We also had defensive plate drop off of just about every boss. We could've geared up a prot warrior/paladin in half epics. We had no warrior. So one holy paladin got some loot in case he goes tanking.

We only had three deaths too. I kinda caused all of them. Two were warlock deaths on an AoE pull (both at once) which I believe was because the healers decided to keep me alive (as I got aggro from shielding a lock) and I wasn't in LOS so they had to scuttle and then the locks died. And the third was myself to a void hole during Netherspite. Black on black ftl. I hate desktop gamma.

We did wipe once on Curator, but had a DI. Why did we wipe? Arrogance and not clearing that last trash mob first, hehe.

All in all, it was awesome. The raid leader whispered me afterward telling me they could use another shadow priest. I told him I'd let them get settled in first.

I'm not sure if I want to raid with the shadow priest. She bores me to no end. On most days, all I do with her is the bombing dailies. I don't solo with her, because I hate it. She's still got some green gear and whatnot because I'm too lazy to PuG with her. She just doesn't bring me joy.

So I'm hoping I can prod them in the direction of picking up my hunter instead. Of course, this means I need to finish those 15 group quests clogging up my log and hit 70 and get my blues and do my heroics and grind my rep, but that seems doable with her as she can actually kill things. Hopefully I'll be able to call in some favours for the runs and the quests. :)

So I'm currently working on my newest 60, a hunter, in Hellfire Peninsula. Which, naturally, means a ton more Ramparts runs than is healthy.

It seemed ok when it started off. Had a 62 warrior, myself as a 61 hunter. Then the warrior says he has a 70 friend, kind of like announcing that he has a really big SUV. I'm not very fond of 70s running Ramps with me. They tend to get me killed more than 60s.

We ended up picking up a 63 warlock from their guild, then snatched up a 61 priest from the LFG tool.

First words the warrior says to the priest? "preist your healer"

Now, my main is a resto druid. My main alt is a shadow priest. If someone had said that to me upon entering a group, I would have bailed right there.

The priest, however, seems ok with it, so I content myself with telling my friend how awful this is going to turn out.

The 70 who is coming with us turns out to be a 70 feral druid... in rogue gear. He's going to tank, with 7K health and no tank gear. Well so long as the pulls are reasonable we should be ok.

We get summons out quickly, start the instance. No CC marks, of course. No marks of any kind. The druid pulls.

Warrior: buffs

We kill the first group and the druid runs off to get another group before the priest can mana up and get out the fort buffs.

Warrior: buffs

Now we get the pat as well as the second group of casters/archers. The healer is completely oom and we're scrambling to keep up DPS-wise. The warlock is rain of firing all 11 mobs, therefore getting aggro, and I'm trying to keep the healer alive via cat and traps. Meanwhile, the warrior is saying in party "heal" "heal" "heal" at regular intervals.

This is my biggest pet peeve ever. It drives me nuts. Yes, the healer knows you're at low health. However, he's busy trying to heal the tank with 0 mana. You're not his priority, shut up.

We somehow survive that pull only to have the 70 run off and grab even more mobs. The healer has used his shadowfiend and is completely oom. I manage to trap one, which the 70 then ignores completely when the rest are dead and goes to get the Ripper pack.

We didn't wipe until we reached the beastmaster, whom was pulled with the Ripper group. I feigned, the others died. Then the healer was rezzing and the warrior starts spamming 'rez plz' and 'rez me' in party chat. The healer's only response is 'dude', as he's halfway through the rez. The moment the warrior is rezzed, he says 'buffs'. Again, the healer replies 'dude'.

Ever seen a priest break down? I have. It's not pretty.

Priest: Swing your sword
Priest: Swing it again
Priest: Again
Priest: MS
Priest: Cleave
Priest: Swing your sword again
Priest: Hit it
Priest: Thunderclap!
Priest: MS should be up again

The 70 tells him to shut it, and I point out that he's just doing what the warrior was doing.

And then the 70 pulls everything left before the first boss... and the boss too.

The priest drops group and starts running, I try to get the mobs off of him so he can get a nice headstart and get out of the instance. The druid dies, the warrior dies, the warlock dies. I feign at the bridge, thinking the priest made it, but the boss caught up to him right at the portal. (Bad hunter.)

We all leave group.

And I added two to my ignore list.

So with my darling hunter up to 61 now, I've started using the word "we" when referring to hunters. This amuses my bff a lot, as he knows I've only had my darling for about three months now. But whatever, he can suck it up. I know how to chain trap, how to dps and I have two damn cool cats.

But there's the problem. I want to tame EVERYTHING. And I seriously mean everything.

So far I've had (for more than just skills):

The white crab from Durotar (named Crab). He was my first "official" pet, as I decided I didn't want a red raptor or an orange tiger this time. (This is, after all, my billionth troll hunter. Just the first to make it past 28.) I got lectured by a level 11 warrior as soon as I walked into Barrens about how "the best pet" for my level was a boar. So I kept my crab until level 18, and easily out-leveled the sucker.

Then I got my Ghostsaber. Yes, flavour-of-the-month, but I've really wanted one since I came across it on Petopia a while back. Took me about two hours of taming crabs and plainstriders to help me with the naga around the statues and then not getting a proc from the statues, but my baby came to me. It took me about a week to finally figure out a name for him and then another week to get up the guts to name him permanently as Deimos. The best part, though, was when I flew down to Mulgore to show him off to my bff, who got jealous. Na na, I have a better pet than his uber hunter.

Then I didn't use any other pet other than for skills. I kept an Ironfur Patriarch in Feralas for a while because he had a cute butt and because I didn't return to the stable master for a while. And I played with a Winterspring Screecher for a while, again due to the stable master thing.

And then I dinged 60. Beautiful, beautiful 60. Know what else is level 60? Shy-Rotam. Gorgeous blue cat. And since I'm a blue troll, I decided to get my blue cat. I wasn't prepared for her fear and I also summoned her at half health and mana (dur) so she was a PAIN to tame and actually took about 10 tries. Which made me even more determined to have her. So now I have her and she's beautiful. I plan to name her Skeira, but I'm not entirely comfortable with it, so I'm waiting a bit.

For my third, I am stuck.

I want a colour-changing Ravager, because they change colours and they're mean little mofos.

I want a white and purple (non-caster) Warp Stalker, because they're the coolest tank pets.

And I really really miss my crab and want a blue STV crab, but in my heart know they aren't the most useful pets on the planet.

It's a very conflicting world with only three stable slots. :(

EDIT: Since the challenge of getting one is so damn cool, I am totally powerleveling Zee's butt to 67, getting her run through SV, then going to get a pretty wolf. Should be able to save some cash by crafting the gem myself then hopefully having Sneaky cut it. I should be fine with just 'zerking and the gem, but I could drag Shocker or 'Less with me to help. Maybe convince Wulf or Bleu to help. OH THIS IS EXCITING. Only six levels to power through before the hotfix, lol.

Ok, ok, Lifebloom Rolling works. I get it.

And it's SO MUCH FUN in raids. :D :D :D

At one point we had three tanks and I was just rolling those lifeblooms, pew pew. Made it much more enjoyable than just randomly casting. (And adding my lifebloom countdown to grid = awesome. I love that mod.)

I'm definitely getting more comfortable with it now too.

I ended up doing 30% of the healing, behind UBER!paladin's 32% and ahead of our second paladin's 26%. Granted, second paladin had fun tanking. :) And I had the least amount of overheals (go figure).

I died on Shade of Aran though. Those Elementals just clobber me to death, and I only have 6.5K health unbuffed. So buffed I'm at about 8.6K and uh yeah I still died. No warlock ftl.

And on our Prince kill each healer did 31% of the healing. Same order as above when it comes to the minutiae. However, I could only give one of us credit for the Woeful Healers we had up... and I gave it to me, hehe. Our shadow priest used Prayer of Healing from behind the door, so he did some heals.

I just want to see if this new style of healing means I need to switch to my Lifebloom Idol, which I really think it means I do. Yes I do. 57% of heals from Lifebloom, counting for over 1 million hit points. I'll need to remember to switch that up tomorrow.

I have to say, being a druid healing with two paladins is pretty interesting. Oftentimes they'll mow over my Regrowths and Swiftmends, so I only use those when it's an "OH MY GOD TANK IS GONNA DIE" situation. Like in Phase 2 of Prince, when our tank got down to about 3K health. I even popped an NS/Regrowth in there, but it was all overheal as it was the third thing I hit. (I already had started casting Regrowth by the time he got hammered, then hit Swiftmend, then hit NS/Regrowth, which is a lot of time if you take into consideration the GCD.) But their 7K heals are a nice complement on boss fights.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have an essay to write and hand in in about 12 hours. :)

I just healed my first heroic. Nothing hard, just heroic Slave Pens, but it was my first time healing a heroic and I am normally totally terrified of healing 5mans with my resto druid. (My lack of burst heals is very apparent to me and I often find myself wishing for a flash heal or something of the sort.)

Yep, I'm at 1305 +healing and 325 mp5 (ooc; ic it's 117) and I hate healing 5mans. But I did it tonight and it wasn't too hard. I didn't let the tank die once, and the mages only died twice each when they weren't kiting.

I have to say that having Grid was really helpful. I just cannot use the default party interface to heal in 5mans, so having some form of raid-type bar setup was really nice.

Lifebloom rolling is terrifying, but not too terrible once you get used to it. I'd much rather lifebloom roll on four tanks than lifebloom roll on one tank and have to spotheal my group when they get MASSIVE FACESMASHES OF DOOM for 5K. Especially when the one in need of spotheals is me.

On my List of Things to Buy with Badges:

Gargon's Bracers of Peaceful Slumber (healing bracers) for 35
Essence of the Martyr (healing trinket) for 41
Necklace of Eternal Hope (healing necklace) for 25
Gnarled Ironwood Pauldrons (healing shoulders) for 60
Blessed Elunite Coverings (spell damage chest) for 75 --> socket with healing gems

I'm currently at 31 badges right now. I'm definitely getting the bracers, as I'm using the ones from Attumen to heal and they're kinda sucky. Then the trinket, then the necklace, then the pauldrons. Hopefully by that point I'll have gotten a better chestpiece and/or maxed out lwing (for the Windhawk set).

We shall see.
